Job Summary As an Automation Engineer III, you will design and develop control systems for our motion products using industry standard motion control technologies. You will provide technical leadership on incoming critical projects, as well as support for existing customer applications. You will ensure that automation and control hardware for motion systems such as motors and drives, as well as accompanying software, meets required specifications and reliability and industry standards. You will collaborate with teams to resolve issues, define system needs, test methods, and specify hardware and software implementations. Synthesizing multiple inputs and leveraging in-depth knowledge and creativity to solve complex organizational and operational problems. Job Description (Primary Responsibilities)
- Create forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data.
- Verify the effectiveness, accuracy, or safety of new products and troubleshoot any issues.
- Log complaints, assess their severity, perform failure analysis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify root causes of customer issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
- Adhere to quality and regulatory requirements and standards, executing tests as needed.
- Work with team members, seek input, and build trusting relationships through transparency and integrity.

Skills

Skill - Able to complete large
engineering projects with independence and expertise. -
Proficient in reading and understanding circuit schematics (digital, analog, micro-controllers), component specifications, and assemblydrawings. -
Able to identify and select electric motors (brushless servos, steppers, linear, etc.) and feedback devices (encoders, load cells, etc) based on customer application requirements. -
Able to tune electric motors using control theories, knowledge of control systems such as position loop, velocity loop, current loop, and gains such as proportional, integral, feedforward, filters, etc. -
Program motion systems based on customer application requirements, coordinated motion, S-Curve motion, trapezoidal velocity profiles, etc. -
Able to write complex code in multiple programming languages such as Python or C++. -
Identify test methods and troubleshooting steps for system evaluation based on application requirements. -
Excellent communication skills with ability to guide and mentor others.
Travel Requirements
- Limited visits to various customer locations for troubleshooting.
Physical Requirements
- Regular use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to see fine details, either unaided or using a microscope.
- Occasionally lifting and moving equipment or materials.
Compensation and Benefits
- The base pay for this position is $119,496 up to $164,307 per year depending on the geographic market.
- Dependent on the position offered, annual bonuses and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package.
