Peraton Space Technology Services (STS) is the prime contractor on the Environmental Test and Integration Services III (ETIS III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). We support the GSFC Engineering and Technology Directorate's Mechanical Systems Division in Greenbelt, Maryland. We provide facility operations and maintenance as well as integration and testing to support spaceflight hardware development.

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities ensure spacecraft and flight experiments will withstand the rigors of launch and will operate properly in the space environment. In addition to operations, these technical facilities have on-going goals of advancing the state-of-the-art in the development of improved space flight systems. The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities are one of the most complete and comprehensive space hardware test complexes within the United States Government.

Join our dynamic and diverse Peraton Technology Services Team on site, at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), as an Engineering Technician. You have the unique opportunity to be engaged in multiple exciting space projects in the GSFC state-of-the-art facilities.

Responsibilities of the position:

    Support Vibration, Strength and Acoustic testing of space flight hardware by operating control systems interfacing with facilities and measurement transducers
  • Set-up NASA test facilities supporting static load, acoustic, vibration, centrifuge, and modal testing
  • Install accelerometers and strain gages on spacecraft subsystems and structures
  • Connect transducers such as accelerometers, LVDT's, force gages, strain gages and load cells to the appropriate signal conditioners and data acquisition systems
  • Process the collected data and convert to spreadsheets and .pdf files
  • Housekeeping immediate work areas and overall test facilities
  • Light machining including drilling and simple milling
  • Operate Man-lifts. Cranes and fork-lifts (training will be provided)

Work Environment of the position:

  • Work with other personnel in a group that is Team Oriented
  • Work in clean rooms
  • Must be capable of working from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks and manlifts
  • Must be able to use the proper PPE as required by work activities


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 4 years of related experience. Technical school training is preferred.
  • Proficiency Windows Computers and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook)
  • Familiarity with hand tools & electrical & mechanical principles
  • Ability to review and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
    • Ability to learn new technologies.
    • Distinguish colors on digital displays while monitoring testing data
    • Adhere to policies and procedures at all levels of the test environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience operating vibration and acoustic test control software such as M+P
  • Proficiency using computer interfaces to operate mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge/Experience with electrical and electrical competencies
  • Ability to install instrumentation including, but not limited to accelerometers, LVDT's and Strain Gauges
  • Knowledge/Experience using windows directories/file system structures
  • Experience with Crane, Man-Lifts and Forklifts
