About the Job

Position Overview:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct research related to gaining a better understanding of neuronal cell types and circuits in health and pathophysiology, including in temporal lobe epilepsy. You will be responsible for key aspects of the project, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation, including via oral and poster presentations, grant and fellowship submission, and manuscript preparation. You will be expected to be an excellent team member, contributing to the lab beyond your project, including training other lab members.

Responsibilities Include:
Research- 85%
* Together with the PI, design experiments.
* Experimental work, including stereotaxic injections and implantations, tissue harvest and processing.
* Data collection, including in vivo behavioral experiments.
* Data analysis.
* Data interpretation
* Data presentation, including the creation of figures and writing manuscripts. This may additionally include grant/fellowship applications, and presentation at conferences.
* Read and internalize relevant literature to ensure well designed, executed, analyzed, and interpreted experiments.
* Properly maintain all equipment used, properly maintain all records, properly handle all hazardous materials, follow all regulatory requirements, and ensure ethical use of animals.
* Establish techniques, analysis pipelines, protocols, user guides, and other resources as appropriate. This may include setting up experimental rigs, and will require innovation and trouble shooting.
* Meet with the PI on a regular basis to discuss the project and progress.

General Lab Member Duties - 15%
* Attend and participate in lab meetings, including providing productive feedback to other lab members.
* Train other lab members in techniques, analyses, or other aspects of lab work as appropriate.
* Fill in on an as needed basis in laboratory work to ensure success of the lab as a whole.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* A Doctorate Degree in neuroscience or related fields
* Knowledge of the basic principles of neuroscience and analytical approaches, allowing sophisticated experiments and analyses, grounded in accurate and well-controlled observations and a solid understanding of the literature.
* Sufficient previous experience with rodent work to ensure successful and appropriate use of animals, including stereotaxic injections and implants.
* Must possess or be able to readily obtain certification to perform animal studies and procedures
* An ability to work with specialized equipment and software in a way that ensures success and appropriate care of the equipment.
* A strong desire for growth, allowing for quick learning and active seeking of feedback.
* An ability to work well in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior experience with rodent epilepsy models including EEG/LFP seizure monitoring, multi-unit recordings including analysis, and/or GEVI or GECI imaging.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,428 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience
