Job Summary

Performs a wide variety of custodial duties and tasks to complete the cleaning of the garages, offices, parking lots and other custodial duties as assigned

  • Dusts, cleans and polish furniture. Washes woodwork, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures. Replaces disposables such as paper towels, soap and toilet paper. Collects and transports refuse, cleans and relines containers with plastic bags as required. Cleans tops of windows, doorframes and other high places, using ladder when necessary. Handles cleaning supplies and chemical substances in performance of these duties.
  • Vacuums, cleans, sweeps, mops, waxes, scrubs, burnishes and polish floors, fixtures and surfaces. Operates all types of cleaning equipment, floor care equipment, and specialized cleaning equipment. Does all types of heavy project cleaning using above mentioned cleaning methods and equipment, such as but not limited to floor stripping and waxing, polishing, s floor maintenance, heavy restrooms cleaning, carpet shampooing and extraction, and spot removal. Cleans any other item as deemed necessary and as instructed.
  • Keeps adjoining patios, courtyards, breezeways, walkways, balconies, staircases in and around buildings of parking garages including stairwells, elevators, and general floor area clean and free of litter. Keeps outside building area within 10 feet of building clean and free of all types of litter.
  • Maintains and cleans assigned custodial closet. Responsible for complete cleaning of janitor's cart and all equipment at end of shift. Properly disposes of soiled mops, trash, rags, pads and other supplies. Stores and organizes all supplies and shelves. Completes and turns in daily report to immediate supervisor. Operates motor vehicle in the performance of the position's essential functions. Assists in special events operations to ensure bathroom trailers are kept clean.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
  • Maintains clean floor machines, vacuum cleaners, wet-dry vacuum cleaners, automatic scrubbing equipment, wringers, dollies, and floor signs after use. Operates machinery as required by supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Completion of the ninth (9th) grade.
