Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Engine Management Systems team. As an Engineering Manager for Dorman, you will direct and manage cross functional Product Team technical activities relating to product design, manufacture, validation, and quality. You will develop, interpret, and discuss engineering team resource needs and process gaps and analyze technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.We are seeking an Engineering Manager who can use creative methods to solve problems and develop new solutions while leading a team of Mechanical Engineers. This is a hybrid role, in our corporate headquarters in suburban Philadelphia (Colmar, PA) Monday through Thursday with the ability to work from home on Friday.

Primary Duties

  • Confer with team to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Support teams in developing processes that will provide the most appropriate speed to market.
  • DirectSBUactivities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, anddevelop test procedures.
  • Develop and implement product information systems which sufficiently describe and store product characteristics for vendor product development, product validation, and product inspection.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and, developrecommendations accordingly.
  • Develop and lead the team to provide appropriate communication channels between the global offices, CFPT teams, vendors and customers for quality and product development activities.
  • Advise team of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Conduct one on ones and performance reviews with direct reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of SolidWorks,orotherCAD software.
  • Thorough knowledge of GD&T drafting techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access.
  • Knowledge of EPDM or other PDM software.
  • Working knowledge of product qualification testing and inspection tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing capabilities; i.e. machining, stamping, casting, injection molding, electronics assembly.
  • Experience with engineering materials with knowledge of the processing and manufacturing of them; i.e. materials used in automotive materials.
  • FMEA creation, modification, and application experience.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Familiar with automotive vehicle component function.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience in a cross-functional team.
  • Strong leadership, team-building and interpersonal skills
  • Physical Requirement:Capability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Working Conditions:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one location to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education / Experience

  • Technical degree (BS) in mechanical engineeringwith 7+ years of experience; or
  • Associate degree with 9+ years of experience; or
  • Advanceddegree (MSME, MSEE, MBA)with 4+ years of experience
  • 2+years' managerialorleadershipexperiencepreferred
