The Global Podcast Division of Sony Music Entertainment is looking for a Senior Analyst, Finance to support the team in various finance and accounting related functions.Through our creator-first philosophy and diverse international partnerships, Sony Podcasts produces premium, must-listen shows that engage, entertain and delight podcast-lovers everywhere.Ourdynamic team offers a full service, multi-territory approach to modern podcast production and the Finance Manager will be integral to the team's success.

The Senior Analyst will report to the Director of Finance, both New York-based, and will also work closely with the UK Head of Finance and UK Accountant. The ideal candidate will provide support in day-to-day activities as well as participate in over-arching financial analyses supporting decision-making of upper management.The candidate should be extremely comfortable working in Excel and able to find ways of automating data & processes. The role will be demanding as we oversee many projects in various stages of the creative process and our business is ever-changing. We will look to the candidate to ensure that all aspects of the finance process are completed timely, efficiently, and correctly.

• Maintain the US project pipeline file & individual show cost manager files- Work closely with Production Management to ensure production timelines and live budgets are up-to-date and track cost actuals vs budgets
• Track & initiate billing requests (including customer set up) with SME's Accounts Receivable group for our work-for-hire partner shows. In conjunction with the AR team, monitor AR aging and reserve for bad debt when necessary
• Track & initiate expense payments (including vendor set up) with SME's Accounts Payable group including overseeing the group AMEX card
• Prepare journal entries for the US business and ensure that financial results are accurate and finalized within SME's 2-day month-end close process; This task necessitates a keen understanding of accounting and journal entry debits and credits
• Record monthly subscription and sales revenue payments appropriately to shows for multiple partners (Spotify, Apple, Patreon, etc.) This includes not only claiming the monthly revenue payments from partners but also detailed accounting for deferring annual subscription plan revenue, for allocating subscription channel revenue across shows based on consumption data, and for deferring sales revenue billed up front
• Review & approve production, marketing, and overhead purchase orders
• Review & approve staff travel & expense
• Work closely with Ad Ops team to track & reconcile sales revenue on a monthly basis as well as calculate salesperson commissions on a quarterly basis
• Support the Finance Director in the preparation of the monthly forecast and annual budget
• Review contracts and work closely with the Legal team
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for the US business
• Serve as backup support for the UK podcast finance team

• 3 years of experience in Finance/Accounting/Operations
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Microsoft Office, especially proficient with Excel
• Strong communication skills & ability to work with various internal groups as well as external partners
• Strong organizational skills with ability to work under pressure and juggle tasks
• Problem-Solving skills with ability to find solutions using critical thinking
• Comfortable in a changing environment, and willingness to implement change.
• Self-starter but asks questions when guidance is needed
• Exposure or understanding of SAP preferred
