Overview

Holds overall authority and accountability for the operations, supervision, and strategic direction of the Fleet department. Works closely with the executive team to achieve key business outcomes, ensuring efficient fleet planning, regulatory compliance, and budget management. Establishes organizational goals, implements policies, and oversees daily operations to optimize fleet performance and safety.



Responsibilities

    Oversees and coordinates fleet maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, equipment and machinery to ensure fleet readiness and minimize downtime
  • Leads and mentors fleet management staff to enhance productivity, establish performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manages the disposition of fleet assets, including end-of-life vehicles
  • Develops and manages the fleet operational expense and capital budgets
  • Maintains relationships with vendors and negotiates contracts for fleet purchases and services
  • Develops and implements fleet management strategies and policies to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
  • Manages and supervises fleet maintenance and repair activities to ensure vehicles are in good working conditions (includes vans, cars, small trucks, trailers, and diesel/gasoline engine buses)
  • Ensures proper documentation of inspections, services and repairs per SOP
  • Travels, extensively, between job sites as required.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Logistics, Transportation Management or related field and ten (10) years of fleet management experience to include contractor/vendor management and supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:
Valid state Driver's license; clean driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership and management abilities
  • Knowledge of fleet management operations
  • Knowledge of contracting procedures, and compliance
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures, environmental safety practices and procedures, equal employment opportunity (EEO) policies and procedures, and human resource practices
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Functions involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
