Position Overview:

At Caribou Coffee, our mission is to provide real-world experiences and development opportunities to the future leaders of our world. Our 12-week paid Summer Internship Program is your chance to roll up your sleeves, learn the ropes, and be part of something bigger (with plenty of coffee along the way).

As the Accounting Intern, you will report to Caribou's Assistant Controller and work closely with top talent across the department to further initiatives tied to the strategic goals of the business. You will work closely with our Property Accounting team to drive process improvement through increased automation and better business partnership with internal partners in Store Operations, Legal, Facilities, and Development.

During this full-time 12-week program, you'll build valuable skills, connect with passionate professionals, and gain a firsthand look at both the corporate side of the business in our Support Center and the vibrant atmosphere of our coffeehouses during your In-Store Experience. To top it all off, you'll present your capstone project to our leadership team, sharing your ideas and contributions to Caribou's future.

Core Responsibilities:

Finance and Accounting Team Support

  • Support team members with routine activities and ongoing projects.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute perspective and ideas where applicable.

  • Take ownership of specific tasks or projects under supervision.

  • Assist with administrative tasks as assigned.

Internship Capstone Project

  • Work alongside teammates and cross-functionally within the organization to achieve project objectives designed to further the department's strategic goals for FY25.

  • Assist in developing and implementing a lease automation process, including helping to create and upload lease input templates to the system.

  • Support the enhancement of fixed asset management through automation and improved hierarchical structures.

  • Help design and execute a fixed asset audit plan, including assisting in the creation of audit templates.

  • Track project milestones, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve project outcomes or processes.

  • Identify challenges or roadblocks and assist in developing practical solutions.

  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and other documentation to stakeholders, including team members and senior leadership.

  • Assess the success and impact of the project and provide suggestions for future improvements or next steps.

  • Supporting tasks as outlined by Controller and Assistant Controller

Professional Development

  • Engage in professional development workshops and leadership speaker sessions to build skills and gain insights from senior executives.

  • Develop key technical, communication, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning.

  • Observe and learn from experienced team members to gain insights into industry best practices.

Skills and Requirements:

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree (associate, bachelor's, or master's) at an accredited university in a relevant course of study such as Finance or Accounting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfortability learning new technology platforms

  • Strong knowledge of accounting.

Preferred:

  • Current or former Caribou Coffee team member

  • Previous internship experience or experience in a corporate environment

  • Strong knowledge of lease and fixed asset accounting and business processes.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements for this position include sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements must be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation Range:

$11.83 - $19.71 per hour

*Starting pay is subject to Local and State Minimum Wage regulations.

**Ranges reflect what employer reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for such position.

The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical demands may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
