Summary
The Software Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for the consolidated test team across the 3 Console Products, Public Safety and the Performance, Integration and Certification (P.I.C.) Solution test team. The chosen leader will play a critical role in the future of the Spok product suite. They will lead multiple QA/QE teams to enhance, sustain, and innovate testing solutions to support the development and the modernization of the Spok products. This role will lead a highly motivated team of global engineers (QE/QA) to build and deliver complex software in accordance with project requirements, UX design, and industry best practices. The candidate will facilitate and participate in meaningful collaboration sessions on how to solve customer problems and participate in determining scope for the testing of the modernization projects. Partnered closely with the Console Development team, they will drive the testing strategy and tools for the consoles, as well as the integration and performance testing of the overall Solution implementations.
Duties and Responsibilities
>Work with the development teams to introduce a shift-left testing approach to quality.
>Work with Product Management to define test strategies and implementation for the products.
>Own component(s) of the test architecture and direct the work of other team members.
>Ensure new software meets quality standards.
>Lead efforts to help troubleshoot, debug, resolve product issues as they arise.
>Support the application lifecycle (concept, design, test, release, and support).
>Follow established development, documentation, testing and deployment processes.
>Participate in planning and scoping meetings for future projects.
>Work with global team of engineers.
>Work cross functionally to resolve complex customer problems.
>Responsible for managing and maintaining project and work backlog; able to re-prioritize tasks as the business deems appropriate. Lead other engineers in planning, prioritizing, and executing assigned tasks within deadlines; identify, track, and mitigate risks as appropriate.
>Train, coach, and mentor other engineers.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct reports - 6 US FTE, 5 offshore/nearshore resources with possible growth.
Supervises the testing of the 3 Console products, Public Safety and the Performance, Integration, and Certification (P.I.C) team.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
Six to Eight years of related experience
>Agile development, SAFE experience
>5+ years of managing engineering resources
>8+ year of development or development testing experience
>Experience working cross functionally to align work product deliverable, mitigating conflict
>Experience managing multiple software development teams, including global locations
