Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Parts Specialist to join our team in a dynamic, fast-paced fleet shop environment. This position directly supports the City of Yonkers and contributes to keeping emergency and municipal fleets operational. Ideal candidates are organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a hands-on, high-responsibility setting with room for growth and advancement.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Accurately process and fulfill customer orders, including Will Call.
  • Maintain and update inventory management systems and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Stock, pick, prep, move, and organize products using appropriate equipment.
  • Assist in identifying, sourcing, and procuring hard-to-find parts via online research, catalogs, and technical diagrams.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational flow of the warehouse.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliations.
  • Ensure safe and secure handling of all products, including hazardous materials.
  • Handle customer returns accurately and process necessary documentation.
  • Ensure building and equipment security, including opening and closing duties.
  • Train and assist other warehouse employees as needed and support adherence to company policies.
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement of warehouse operations.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Automotive parts experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of fire, police and heavy-duty vehicle parts, particularly for fleet vehicles such as Freightliner, International, Mack, and emergency vehicles.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to research and source specialty or hard-to-find parts using multiple platforms.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and inventory software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet productivity and quality standards.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • This location operates Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, and Saturday from 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
  • Extended hours, including weekends or emergency shifts, may be required during weather events or other critical conditions to support essential fleets.
  • Work takes place inside customer facilities, which may not be climate-controlled.
  • The majority of work is performed in the field with customers. Driving as well as standing, walking, and sitting are essential functions of this position. Lifting requirements of up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis may be required. Wrist and finger manipulation due to computer work, calculating, compiling and filing. Equipment used may include but is not limited to vehicle, computer, typewriter, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machines.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Previous warehouse experience; forklift experience is a plus
  • 19 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license and no more than 2 moving violations in the last 4 years
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Positive work ethic and high attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management and customers
