JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Forage Crop Systems Laboratory seeks undergraduate students for internship opportunities within the Department of Plant Science at The Pennsylvania State University. Typical duties for students will include assisting with day-to-day operations involved in the greenhouse and field experiments, including but not limited to caring for greenhouse pot plants, data collection, processing plant and soil samples, seed preparation, planting, fertilization, harvest, and post-harvest cleanup. The interns will support the implementation of agronomic field trials and greenhouse experiments on forage crops. The interns are expected to collect data by measurement, sampling, and subjective assessments to evaluate forage crops; prepare plant tissue and soil samples for lab analysis. Students studying Animal Science, Plant Science, Soil Science, Biology, Agriculture, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related areas are encouraged to apply. Experience with farm equipment and fieldwork is desired. The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the summer, fall, and spring semesters. This paid internship is at Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Rock Springs and Greenhouses in University Park, central PA; relocation and housing are not provided. The candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Guojie Wang.
