About the team

OpenAI's Go-To-Market (GTM) team partners with the world's most ambitious organizations to deploy frontier AI systems. We help customers build category-defining products, navigate complex technical integrations, and launch generative AI solutions that redefine what's possible.

About the role

We're hiring a GTM operator to shape how OpenAI serves the life sciences industry. This is one of our most technically demanding and commercially important markets. The role spans biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and adjacent scientific organizations. It includes AI-native startups and the largest enterprises across the Americas, EMEA, APAC, and Japan.

You will work at the intersection of scientific innovation, advanced AI, and go-to-market execution. You will pinpoint the highest-leverage opportunities, land early customer partners, and guide product, research, and GTM teams to drive scaled impact across R&D, clinical development, and adjacent domains. You will shadow live deployments and run customer interviews to surface patterns and pain points. You will turn those insights into proposals, product feedback, and develop a playbook for how we serve life sciences customers.

This role is based in San Francisco. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and execute OpenAI's life sciences approach across customer segments and global regions, building GTM plays for biotech, pharma, CROs, and scientific software platforms

  • Shape our approach to high-impact use cases, including clinical trial design, scientific authoring, biomarker discovery, and lab automation

  • Guide key deployments and convert early wins into scalable playbooks, serving as a trusted advisor to both customers and internal teams

  • Translate customer needs, product gaps, and regulatory constraints into clear input for product and research development

  • Architect how we engage scientific customers, from first contact through scaled adoption

You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Bring 7+ years of experience in regulated enterprise SaaS GTM and product roles, with deep domain expertise in biotech, pharma, clinical research, or scientific software

  • Understand global life sciences markets, with fluency in EMEA; experience in APAC and Japan is a plus

  • Combine product intuition with technical fluency, enabling you to partner across life sciences, engineering, product, research, and GTM teams

  • Think systemically, surface tradeoffs quickly, and produce crisp, high-quality work across everything you own

  • Communicate with clarity and polish across scientific, technical, and executive audiences

  • Operate like a founder: high agency, fast learner, driven to execute with precision and ownership
