Job Title: Student intern / Graduate Intern (Civil / Environmental Engineering Required)

Location: San Jose, CA 95118

Duration: 12 months Contract

Pay Rate : 26.00/Hr. on w2.

Job Description:

  • Coordinate with external stakeholders-including contractors, consultants, and private property owners-and internal Valley Water teams to schedule timely, efficient, and regulation-compliant inspections.
  • Support the Wells Unit in both day-to-day administrative functions and special projects, ensuring timely execution and accurate documentation of permitting activities.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of well permit application packets, including verifying certificate of insurance, calculating associated fees, and ensuring all forms (e.g., well inventory forms) meet agency requirements.
  • Draft and maintain professional correspondence with contractors and property owners regarding permit statuses, inspection results, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Organize and track permit documentation using internal filing systems, ensuring records remain up-to-date, accurate, and accessible for auditing and reporting.


Required Skills:

  • Basic understanding of hydrogeology, groundwater systems, and/or civil/environmental engineering.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks, prioritize deadlines, and keep projects on schedule-particularly in coordination with multiple parties.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues related to permit processing, scheduling conflicts, and regulatory inconsistencies.


Applicable college curriculum or major (If intern assignment):


  • Student pursuing Bachelor's degree either in Geology, Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering
