Your Opportunity: Jon Michael Design, a Taylor Corp. company, is looking for a talented Senior Art Directorto join our creative team! As a Senior Art Director, you will be working closely with the Creative Director on all new projects from conception to completion. Ideating and brainstorming with the, VP Creative, and Creative Director from the briefing with the client and then leading with innovative ideas while bringing knowledge of industry standards and design ideation to the junior staff. This role will be collaborative with our suite of freelancers and designers so a background in managing and guiding design work is a must.

You will be responsible for leading your team, by bringing new and innovative ideas along with knowledge on new technologies like AI software's for ideation etc. Being a master trouble-shooter and problem solver, forecasting potential challenges for design projects is important as we work with our cross-functional teams by leveraging our knowledge and expertise in design. You will be responsible for multiple projects across many brands at once ranging from different categories such as skincare, fragrance, cosmetics, spirits etc. so, flexibility is important.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Passionate, inspirational, and with an energy to create award-winning work, you will be the driving force leading and engaging the design team
  • Working collaboratively with the Creative Director, you will help direct the creative output on client programs within the design studio, from concept generation through to design completion
  • Responsible for the timely and precise creation of packaging designs, from concept to completion
  • Lead by example to ensure that you and your team deliver exceptional creative work
  • Provide inspiring guidance and feedback to the design team during the course of projects, in the pursuit of great creative outputs
  • Design and contribute content to credentials presentations
  • Contribute to the preparation of pitches, under the direction of the Creative Director
  • Maintain packaging standards and help evolve visual systems as we continue to grow into new markets, partnerships, legal requirements, etc.
  • Provide direction and inspiration, while also in constant communication with Creative Director, reporting on both team and project status
  • Contribute ideas and original content for thought pieces, social media and sharing information internally
  • Responsibility for the day-to-day ownership of the quality of creative deliverables across a range of projects

You Must Have:

  • BFA or BS in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or related major - beauty is a must
  • 6+ years' experience in a high volume, deadline-driven environment; beauty, fashion, and technology industry experience
  • Highly skilled on computer programs including Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Strong branding and design skills
  • Ability to render in 2D for presentations; 3D rendering program experience is a plus
  • In depth knowledge of packaging design, printing, materials, and structure
  • Retouching capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Proven experience working as an inspiring Sr. Designer or Art Director with strategic understanding, capable of leading high-level, demanding, and complex projects
  • Demonstrable experience of being "good beyond the brief": consistently taking work to the next level
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities, anticipate demands, communicate status appropriately

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The range listed is just one component of Taylor Corporation's total compensation and benefits package for employee.
