Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.

The Supply Chain Operations Division consists of three areas: Materials Contract Administration, Storehouse Operations and Non revenue Fleet Operations. The purpose of the department is to serve various customers within Metra. Managing the continuous supply of parts materials and services required to support Engineering Mechanical and Transit Operations. Additionally, the department operates Metra's four storehouses and is responsible for managing and maintaining Metra's non-revenue vehicle fleet and responsible for managing Metra's fuel program, P Card and Fleet Card Programs.

Reporting to the Manager, Non-Revenue Fleet Management, the Sr Fleet Maintenance Administrator will ensure all Metra vehicles are in compliance with all city, county, and state regulations. Maintain vehicle appointment and repair history records, prepare invoices and cost reports, inspect vehicles, and perform other related duties.

The primary duties include ensure all vehicles are in compliance with all city, county, and state regulations, such as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Registration, Title, and safety. Arrange appointments and maintain vehicle repair history records. Coordinate towing services, assess mechanical problems, find appropriate contracted repair shops, and make other necessary arrangements when vehicles break down. Prepare vendor invoices and cost reports. Perform vehicle inspections. This position is subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in fleet maintenance or as an automotive or truck technician.
  3. Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations is desirable.
  4. Knowledge of labor guided, operating, and maintenance systems for vehicles (Alldata and Mitchell is preferable).
  5. Knowledge of vehicle repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance methods.
  6. Working knowledge of vehicle parts and materials.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word and Excel).
  8. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  9. Good analytical and organizational skills.
  10. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment or independently.
  11. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with vendors, internal customers, and department administrators.
  12. Ability to react to changing priorities promptly and efficiently.
  13. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  14. Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, for extended periods of time.
  15. Hearing/Visual acuity, far/near, depth perception, field of vision, color vision.
  16. Must be able to operate a vehicle.
  17. Must be willing to travel within Metra's 6-county region.
  18. Must be available to work flexible hours in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends.
