As a Research Intern, you will play a key role in developing and testing innovative strategies for the design and prototyping of additive manufactured devices for the biopharmaceutical industry. You will be expected to design and execute experiments systematically, analyze data, and report findings weekly.

This position offers a unique opportunity to translate concept development into a commercial device. You will collaborate with internal experts in materials science, additive manufacturing, chemistry and engineering to explore various topics required to assess feasibility including fabrication, process, equipment, and economics.

This hands-on position provides a unique opportunity to work at the interface of biomaterials science and protein biopharmaceuticals, contributing to cutting-edge research in biopharmaceutical storage and sampling. You will gain practical experience in material selection techniques, prototype creation, and scale-up methodologies. Your work will have a real-world impact, helping to advance next-generation solutions for bioprocessing.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Development & testing of prototypes for bioprocessing.
  • Characterize materials under different environmental and mechanical stress conditions.
  • Assess capability of printing micron size features in bioprocess devices.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to scale up these concepts for potential application in large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

What Will Convince Us

Education

  • Pursuing or recently completed a B.S. or M.S. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Biophysics, or related fields.

Experience & Skills

  • Hands-on experience with design software and additive manufacturing in an academic or industrial setting.
  • Ability to systematically design experiments, collect data, and present findings in technical reports.
  • Collaborative mindset - ability to work with interdisciplinary teams (scientists & engineers).
  • Curiosity and problem-solving ability - excited about innovative approaches to biomaterials and protein science.
