POSITION PURPOSE
The Human Resources Generalist in our Operations/Manufacturing plant plays a crucial role in managing and supporting the HR needs of approximately 400 union associates. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, supporting employee relations, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
This position works directly with all levels of employees, supervisors, and management staff at the NY Orangeburg and West Nyack facilities.
- Employee Relations: Handle employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances in a prompt and confidential manner. Collaborate with union representatives to resolve issues and maintain positive labor relations. Assist in the development, modification and deployment of the Human Resources policies.
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to federal and state employment laws, union contracts, and company policies. Keep policies and procedures updated and communicate changes to employees.
- Staffing / Onboarding: Assist in the staffing process, including job postings, and interactions with temporary staffing agencies for placements. Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires and facilitate new hire orientation.
- Benefits Administration: Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs. Assist and monitor employees with benefits-related questions and issues.
- HR Metrics and Reporting: Compile, analyze and report on HR data to identify trends and recommend solutions for improving HR processes and practices.
- Employee Engagement: Collaborate with management to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives.
- Administrative / Clerical Support: Provide administrative and clerical support to HRBP / HR Manager.
- Bilingual Support: Act as a liaison between English-speaking and Spanish-speaking employees, ensuring effective communication and understanding.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; highly skilled in Excel, including formulas, charts and pivot tables.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 3 - 5 years of progressive HR experience preferably in a plant/ manufacturing environment.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Bilingual - Strong Fluency in both English and Spanish speaking, reading, writing, and translating.
- Ability to build and manage relationships to influence and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills, conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities, and proven ability to manage conflict; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, take initiative/ownership, and achieve stated goals and objectives
- Ability to work in a team environment, sharing information learned with other team members
- Must be able to work flex schedules as necessary to support HR office hours of 6:30am - 4:30pm
- HR Certification (e.g. PHR, SHRM- CP) is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position operates in an office environment within a manufacturing facility.
- Regular communication and collaboration with union representatives and employees.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special projects or meetings.
- May be required to lift and/or carry up to 10 lbs. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
SALARY RANGE
- $75,000 - $85,000 annually, plus bonus
