Role

As a Senior Director, Learning and Development, you will lead all global Learning and Development initiatives across Medallia. Additionally, as a key member of the Culture, Experience, and Learning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our workforce by fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth. This role reports directly to Medallia's SVP, Culture, Experience, and Learning.

This role requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on execution, enabling our diverse talent to excel and innovate. You will champion initiatives that enhance employee engagement and development across the career lifecycle, while also overseeing our contingent labor program.

THE LOCATION FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY IS FLEXIBLE BUT CANDIDATES IN THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA/DC AREA WILL BE PRIORITIZED WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT THEY WOULD PERIODICALLY ATTEND MEETINGS AND LEAD TRAININGS OUT OF OUR LOCAL OFFICE.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive learning and development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of innovative and scalable learning experiences across global locations, both virtual and in-person.
  • Serve as a player/coach, directly curating, delivering, and facilitating high-impact training and enablement sessions, while also leading, developing, and managing a small team of direct reports.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align learning programs with key business objectives and stakeholder needs.
  • Direct the management of new employee onboarding, ensuring all new Medallians are equipped for success.
  • Direct the management of our contingent labor program, ensuring alignment with strategic organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through intentional learning initiatives.
  • Implement processes for continuous improvement and measure the impact of learning programs using data-driven insights.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with internal business units and external learning vendors.
  • Ensure the integration of ESG priorities into learning programs.
  • Champion the adoption of innovative technologies and platforms, including the optimization of Workday Learning.
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on global learning trends and best practices.
  • Design and implement feedback mechanisms to capture learner insights and drive program improvements.
  • Compile and communicate effective reports on learning engagement and outcomes to senior leadership, including our L&D Steering Committee.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in learning and development, with at least 5 years in a Director+ leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful learning strategies in a global organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in both strategic oversight and hands-on facilitation of training programs.
  • Expertise in project planning and management, with a focus on large-scale initiatives.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with the capacity to leverage data to inform decisions and demonstrate program impact.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Organizational Development, Education, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Experience working in a technology company, especially a SaaS company.
  • Experience managing a contingent labor program within a corporate setting.
  • Proficiency with Workday Learning or similar learning management systems.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on integrating technology-driven solutions, including leveraging AI to support learning initiatives.
  • Strong commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a strategic focus.

Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $194,400 - $225,000 USD. This position is bonus eligible. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, candidate's work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
