About the Missouri 4-H Foundation
The Missouri 4-H Foundation in an MU affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 1949 and led by an independent board of trustees. The mission of the Missouri 4-H Foundation is to empower tomorrow's leaders by funding meaningful experiences today. We do this by partnering with individuals, organizations, and foundations to support the work of Missouri 4-H, helping kids develop important life skills through hands-on projects under the guidance of caring adult mentors. We offer college scholarships, funding for state and local 4-H programs, recognition for 4-H volunteers, and seed money for new and expanded 4-H programs.

Job Description:
The University of Missouri Office of Advancement is hiring an Advancement Officer to work as a member of the MU Extension and Engagement fundraising team. The position will focus primarily on major gifts and donor stewardship to increase the donor base for MU Extension and the Missouri 4-H Foundation. The position will also provide support for activities associated with pipeline development. Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Advancement, this position will have the opportunity to:

* Identify prospective individual donors, corporations, and foundations, and initiate appropriate cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities, requiring a minimum number of prospect proposals, travel, and a significant number of personal visits.
* Establish and maintain a portfolio of donors and prospects with monthly and quarterly activity and progress goals.
* Work with the Sr. Director of Advancement to identify local giving and develop strategies that encourage philanthropy for county Extension Councils and 4-H Councils.
* Work closely with development staff to lead the creation and implementation of annual appeals, campaigns and initiatives for MU Extension and the Missouri 4-H Foundation, collaborating with the Missouri 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees and the MU Office of Annual Giving and Membership.
* Attend any donor functions, central Advancement meetings and participate in prospect strategy meetings.
* Assist with other development projects as needed.

The Advancement Officer works collaboratively with partners in Extension and across the University, including MU Extension and Advancement leadership, the Missouri 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees, the MU Office of Annual Giving and Membership, and MU Extension and 4-H faculty, staff, and volunteers across the state.

Annual Goals and Metrics:
Success will be measured through the tracking of individual goals for proposals delivered and closed, number of personal contacts with donors, and dollars raised.
* $200,000 Dollars Raised
* 6-7 Major Gift Proposals Presented ($50K and above)
* 3-4 Major Gifts Closed ($50K and above)
* 50-75 Evaluation Visits

Shift

M-F 8 am - 5 pm, includes travel, irregular weekend and evening hours

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

* Fundraising experience, alumni/volunteer relations or public relations; or equivalent transferable skills showing an understanding of the development model, i.e. pursuing and cultivating donors, customers, or business relationships.
* Strong familiarity with the University of Missouri, MU Extension and 4-H is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20-$63,000 annually

Grade: GGS-010
