Student Success Center

Job Description

This position will direct operational, financial, and personnel activities of a office created to meet academic advising and student services provided through the Discovery Center and the Transfer Student Center. This centralized academic advising, and student services office was developed to provide coordinated leadership of the Discovery Center and Transfer Student Center. The position will be located in the Student Success Center. The position will supervise 7 FT staff.

Key Responsibilities:
* Direct overall academic advising programs administered through the Academic Pathways Office. This includes training and development of professional advisors and student support staff. Oversee initiatives related to improving student success (retention, persistence and graduation rates). Oversee initiatives related to recruitment activities. Responsible for developing and managing budgets.
* Direct and oversee all advising related processes, policies and day to day functions of the Academic Pathways Office, including use and maintenance of student records internal and external communication with students, academic administrators AALC, and other important stakeholders.
* Direct and assist academic advisors when academic issues affecting students require attention. Oversee appeals and probation processes. Manage special and exceptional student issues in concerns in consultation with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies.
* Provide leadership in the development, implementation of and assessment of a student success program for students advised and supported by Academic Pathways Office programs. This includes the strategic and intentional use of New Student Survey information, New Student Check In information, Early Alert Flags and other student information (including the possible use of predictive analytics).
* Recruit, interview, select, manage, and provide ongoing performance evaluation of all staff in the Academic Pathway Office programs.
* Work with other AUs and program offices across the campus to advance academic advising and student success initiatives, including service on appropriate campus committees and working groups.
* Other duties as assigned.

Shift

M-F 8am-5pm, occasional weekends or travel possible

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's in an appropriate field (counseling, higher education, etc.) is required; a PhD is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years in academic advising or closely related field in education is required. Previous experience supervising professional staff is required.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $69,097.60-$102,024.00 yearly

Grade: GGS-012
