About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated and accomplished individual to join our Department of Biomedical Engineering as a Research Professor with a focus on neurodegeneration, therapeutic discovery platforms, and an emphasis in deciphering complex protein-protein interaction networks that contribute to the pathogenesis of these diseases. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position working in the Laboratory of Molecular Therapeutics. The appointment is annually renewable and depends on available funding. The successful candidate will lead innovative research in neurodegeneration, secure competitive funding, mentor students and early-career researchers, and contribute to advancing knowledge through high-impact publications.

Research Leadership and Mentorship (30%):
Lead and manage an innovative research program in neurodegeneration, exploring areas such as molecular mechanisms, therapeutic interventions, or advanced high- throughput drug discovery techniques.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within and outside the institution to drive forward research initiatives.
Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants, fostering their academic and professional growth.
Deliver occasional guest lectures or workshops related to neurodegeneration, high- throughput assay development, and biomedical engineering.

Grant Writing and Funding Acquisition (45%):
Develop and submit competitive grant proposals to secure external funding from federal agencies, foundations, and industry partners.
Maintain grant budgets and ensure compliance with funding agency requirements.

Design and execution of experiments and analysis of data (15%):
Conduct cell culture, live cell microscopy/imaging, high-throughput screening, and quantitative data analysis.
Work directly with collaborators and other lab personnel to complete grant-driven milestones that lead to publications and additional funding opportunities.

Scholarly Contributions (10%):
Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
Engage with the scientific community by participating in collaborative projects.
