The Department of Pharmacy has the responsibility for the implementation and coordination of drug control in the process of providing pharmaceutical care for patients of all ages within the Medical Center. The Pharmacy Intern works to compound and dispense drugs and medicines according to prescriptions authorized by physicians and under the direct supervision of a Staff Pharmacist. Work is assigned with the intent of increasing the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to become a competent Pharmacist.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Follows all departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and processes as communicated and documented.

3. *Interacts and communicates with providers, management, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate departmental and organizational operations.

4. *Participates in Pharmacy Services Department and Bryan Medical Center programs which evaluate the use of pharmaceuticals in the course of patient care.

5. *Adheres to safety and security procedures to promote a safe and secure environment including adherence to state restrictions on Pharmacist Intern functions.

6. Demonstrates professional growth by participating in continuing education conferences, forums, virtual, and/or teleconference in-services to ensure adherence to professional standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Enrollment in the first year of a Doctor of Pharmacy program with intent to graduate with a Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD). Registration as a Pharmacist Intern in the State of Nebraska required
