Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking an Credit and Collections Manager for our Lakeville, MN Corporate office.

Job Summary:

This position manages the Company's portfolio of accounts receivable from customers through effective credit and payment management processes. Key responsibilities include assessing and managing credit risk, developing, and implementing collection strategies, and overseeing payment processing and cash application processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead, develop and manage credit and collection personnel to ensure timely performance in these key functional areas:
    • Initial and ongoing assessment of customer credit worthiness
    • Maintenance of credit limits, payment terms, and account status
    • Review and release of credit holds
    • Collection of outstanding past due balances
  • Develop and maintain processes related to these key functional areas. Monitor collection personnel compliance with the processes. Communicate with the sales management team as needed to address concerns and process changes.
  • Manage escalations and resolution of high-level disputes. Oversee and approve write-off of uncollectible debts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers and the sales team to foster effective and efficient communication and timely resolution of credit and collection-related concerns.
  • Oversee the payment processing and cash application activities to ensure timely and accurate application of payments to customer accounts. Identify and implement automation opportunities related to payment processing and cash application processes.
  • Manage the utilization of third-party vendors for various services, including credit monitoring, debt collection, statement preparation and delivery, and payment processing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • At least five years of collections experience in a fast-paced business-to-business setting, with three years of experience in a supervisory or management position
  • A working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Must be flexible, open minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with the sales team
  • Ability to work accurately with highly detailed information
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and AS400-based ERP system

Mental & Physical Demands:

  • Attention to detail to assure accuracy of amounts and invoices in question
  • Frequent deadlines must be met requiring a fast pace of work
  • Continuous contact with the credit and sales teams and with customers
  • Potential for stress related to the typical receivables problem resolution processes
  • Continuous use of hands for writing and computer keyboard
  • Continuous use of a computer monitor requiring close vision
  • Continuous use of a telephone - listening and speaking
  • Ability to work at a desk throughout the day
