COLUMBIA Class Propulsion Systems - Shafting Components Engineer
Overview COLUMBIA Class Propulsion Systems - Shafting Components - is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic entry level engineer to lead procurement, design, test, analysis, and manufacture efforts for COLUMBIA Class propulsion shafting components. Major components include, Low Speed Coupling (LSC), Main Thrust Bearing (MTB), Main Shaft Brake, Lock and Turning Gear (BLTG), Main Shaft Seal (MSS) system, and main propulsion shaft and waterborne bearings. The D489 shafting teams' responsibilities include specification development, component design, qualification testing, analysis, design disclosures and component shipboard integration. In addition, the team works with several suppliers to manage component development and provide technical and programmatic support throughout component design, manufacture, test, and delivery. Perform engineering calculations in support of component design disclosures
Ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills to allow close communication of technical issues with nuclear NAVY customers, Suppliers and Electric Boat Frequent travel may be required (20%) Qualifications Required Qualifications
