Mechanical Designer/Drafter

SUMMARY
Responsible for solid modeling, drafting, and drawing of cryogenic and gas systems, products, and components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following:
* Reinforce corporate commitment to safety and environmental awareness
* Create solid models from sketches, specifications, component outlines, and other design input
* Work with sales, manufacturing, product management, and quality to model new designs or modifications to existing products
* Assist in maintaining and improving the drawing change documentation process (using PDM)
* Specify or aid in the specification of fasteners and similar components for the design of new and existing products
* Provide input on the manufacturability of existing and new products
* Other tasks as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* At least 5 years of experience with solid modeling software, including (required), SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D
* At least 3 years of experience with design/drafting of piping systems and/or related mechanical products
* Experience with the design/drafting of welded and brazed assemblies
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
* Experience with SolidWorks Product Data Management Software (PDM)
* Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (desired)
* Must have a good working knowledge of mechanical drafting (line weights, drawing layout, hidden views, the "three view" drawing layout)
* Must be familiar with AutoCAD 2D (most of our work is in 2D); Solid Works is a plus
* Must be familiar with piping, pipe fittings, flanges, pipe schedules
* Must be familiar with tube, tube fittings, & structural materials
* Should be familiar with material types and characteristics - especially carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum
* Electrical Schematic knowledge (desired)
* Must be familiar with AutoCAD "Blocks" & computer file architecture
