Network Technician Switching

Description

The Network Translations Trunking Department (Trunk Provisioning and Maintenance) is the central Hub for Frontier's trunking needs. Manned 24/5, the trunking department remotely accesses Central Office Switches. The Trunking Team monitors the flows of orders, and sends attention to areas that are bottlenecked, such as translations, transport, SS7, CO wiring, and Design. The Trunking Team is the voice of Frontier for their customers. They proactively look into potential bottlenecks and correcting them to ensure smooth order flow and completion.

Perform circuit turn-up functions and pre-service testing for all types of designed trunking circuits. Identify and isolate trouble conditions on special services circuits using Switched Access System (SAS) remote testing equipment.

Responsibilities



  • Provision trunk members and circuits terminating in the various switch technologies
  • Coordinate with customers to perform turn up and end to end testing of trunk groups
  • Control and direct test efforts of employees at remote sites when applicable.
  • Screen circuit order augments and rearrangements and resolve assignment discrepancies
  • Perform remote testing and turn-up functions.
  • Coordinates and test installation and rearrangement.
  • Complete parameter and measurements testing focusing on digital technology
  • Run Scripts (created by the translations team) to route traffic to new trunk group.


Qualifications



  • Must possess working knowledge of Circuit provisioning process.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be proficient with standard office applications including MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, Outlook, M6, GHEM, POWR, REACT, Win RC, Tera Term.
  • Must possess a clear understanding of TCP/IP networking including, sub netting and the OSI model.
  • Must be familiar with TDM and Meta switching platforms in order to provisioning and test trunks.
  • Must understand call processing within the Frontier switches and across the network.
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift to include days, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call.
