Advanced Practice Provider-Cardiothoracic Surgery

Provides care to Cardiothoracic Surgery patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Performs all duties within the scope of practice for the perioperative patient including first-assisting in surgery, saphenous vein harvest and radial artery harvests, assisting with chest tubes and catheters, intubating and extubating patients, extremity wound closure, wound management systems (Wound VAC), inpatient management (patient consults, ICU/progressive care/general care rounds; ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, writing orders, facilitating patient discharges) and outpatient management (conducting outpatient clinic visits and follow-up as directed by physician) both locally and in outstate clinic locations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Master of Science degree in Nursing with current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required. Minimum of one (1) year advanced practice experience preferred. OR Graduate degree from a Physician's Assistant program required. Current licensure as a Physician Assistant required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required. Completion of Bryan credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment. Certification through AAPA required. A minimum of one (1) year advanced practice experience preferred. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification required within one year of hire. |
