Job Summary:

The Brand Marketing team at Wisconsin Athletics is seeking an innovative and strategic Assistant Director, Social Media Marketing Strategy to help lead digital engagement efforts in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role is ideal for a digital strategist with a passion for social media, brand storytelling, and showcasing the voices and experiences of UW's student-athletes, while supporting the department's mission to engage, inspire, and unite through sport.

In this role, you will:
- Curate, plan, and post engaging content across various social media platforms
- Collaborate with marketing, brand communications, and creative teams to develop cohesive strategies that align with brand identity and effectively reach target audiences
- Work with the creative team to design visually appealing, brand-consistent posts
- Plan and write captions for daily and weekly social media content
- Stay informed on social media trends and best practices to maintain an innovative and impactful digital presence
- Review performance metrics regularly to optimize content strategy
- Leverage paid media tools (e.g., Meta) to drive engagement and revenue
- Manage budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships for paid media campaigns
- Support internal brand storytelling initiatives and assist with day-to-day paid media data reporting
- Contribute to campaign strategy and help track and communicate success on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Collaborate on implementing scalable, repeatable, and measurable methods to improve social media performance


Responsibilities:
Contributes to the development of marketing strategy and oversees implementation of marketing plans, projects, and campaigns. May supervise personnel within a work unit marketing team.

  • 30% Develops operational plans in support of marketing projects and campaigns including staffing and resource allocation, and oversees execution of operations that adhere to deadlines and budgets
  • 50% Segments audiences, identifies marketing opportunities, evaluates competition, integrates marketing tactics, and measures marketing program results
  • 10% Develops, edits, monitors, and provides feedback on content
  • 10% Oversees creative development and project management processes for marketing activities

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree


Qualifications:

- 3+ years experience (sports or agency experience is preferred)
- Responsible for strategy and day-to-day execution of @UWBadgers social platforms including: Facebook, X (Twitter), Linkedin, TikTok, and Instagram
- Collaborate with Marketing, Brand Communications, and Creative teams to develop strategic social campaigns
- Experience with a variety of social media platforms and analytic tools
- Experience with multi-handle strategy, data analysis, and execution of internal brand storytelling campaigns that enhance brand affinity and consumer engagement
- Strong copy writing experience and branding principles
- Past work experience in paid media is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Desire to think "outside the box" generating new and innovative content and tell the story of Wisconsin Athletics in a dynamic way.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
- Candidate should possess strong work ethic, excellent time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment in an office setting

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
