Summary
The Senior Accountant supports the accounting department with month-end close, project costing, AR, AP, banking, reporting, and budgeting/forecasting.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for receipt deposits, process payments from customers, maintain appropriate record- keeping of customer/accounts receivable and maintain a professional rapport with customers on behalf of the company.
- Reconcile company deposits held with customers, record keeping, tracking timetables, and keeping management aware of changes and/or deadlines.
- Review and process invoices for customers as paperwork is turned in by sales department.
- Facilitate bookkeeping by providing reconciled accounts receivable journals and cash deposits held for customers, aging, and projections.
- Process payments of vendor accounts, maintain appropriate record-keeping of vendor accounts with our records and maintain a professional rapport with vendors on behalf of the corporation.
- Reconcile company deposits held with vendors, including vendor inquiry responses, record keeping, tracking timetables, and keeping management aware of changes and/or deadlines.
- Maintain equipment leases and service contracts with vendors, including vendor inquiry responses, record keeping, tracking timetables, and keeping management informed of changes and/ or deadlines.
- Perform monthly closing activities relating to inventories, cost of sales and departmental expenses, including product cost analysis and profit margin analysis.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and process month-end journals.
- Facilitates the processing of sales representative commissions including inquiry responses, record-keeping, and calculations of inside sales commissions.
- Process reimbursement forms.
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Assist with the budgeting/forecasting processes.
- Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to accounting processes and procedures ensuring that practices are efficient, effective, and support the overall goals of the organization.
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
- BS degree in accounting and 3+ years relevant experience
Computer Skills
- Basic computer and office equipment skills needed. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Sage a plus.
