Together for Youth Secure Detention is seeking to hire fulltime Teachers to be responsible for preparing lesson plans and educating students at all levels. Duties include assigning homework, grading tests, and documenting progress. Teachers must be able to instruct in a variety of subjects and reach students with engaging lesson plans.

Job Responsibilities



  • Facilitate lesson plan instructions to students, including 1:1 and small group provides input and helps facilitate social and emotional learning components of lesson plans.
  • Develop and issue educational content including notes, tests, and assignments.
  • Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment.
  • Organize supplies and resources for lectures and presentations.
  • Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning.
  • Plan and implement educational activities and events.
  • Presenting lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning.
  • Providing individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning.
  • Creating and distributing educational content.
  • Ensure classroom is clean and orderly.
  • Allocate and grade homework, assignments, and tests.
  • Responsible for observing, implementing, monitoring and completing specific reports regarding student performance and behaviors in the classroom.
  • Responsible for providing pre-crisis intervention and conflict resolution with student, including implementing and using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) principles, approved behavior modification techniques/strategies and physical restraints.
  • This position will comply will all federal, state and local laws and regulations, including those of NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with students, staff, and external partners.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.



Schedule &Compensation:



  • Schedule - (Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM - year round)
  • Compensation - $75,000 to $90,000 per year depending on experience, education, and skills.



Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 5 years of practical teaching experience. Middle school & high school teaching experience highly preferred.
  • NYS Teaching Certification
  • Proficient knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver's license. Ability to travel.
