Position Description

We're looking for an IT Summer Intern to join our American Ordnance team located in Middletown, IA. The IT Intern will assist the Contracts Department in the migration of contract data from a network share to a document management system. This involves data organization and ensuring a seamless transition. Additionally, the intern will support the IT team with daily technical support tasks to maintain and enhance the functionality of the company's IT systems.

As the IT Summer Intern, here's the work you'll do:

Data Migration Support:



  • Assist in organizing, categorizing, and preparing contract data for migration to the document management system.
  • Work with the Contracts Department to ensure correct data mapping and metadata tagging.
  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of contract data during and after migration.
  • Assist in testing and validating the document management system for functionality and ease of access.


Technical Support Assistance:



  • Provide basic IT support to internal teams, including troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring IT systems to ensure uptime and performance.
  • Respond to helpdesk tickets, resolve issues, and escalate complex problems as needed.


Documentation & Reporting:



  • Maintain clear documentation for the data migration process, including any challenges and solutions encountered.
  • Prepare reports on progress, system issues, and resolutions for management review.


IT Tasks:



  • Support other IT-related projects as assigned, including software updates, hardware configuration, and system optimization.
  • Assist in maintaining data security protocols and ensure that all contract data adheres to organizational data governance standards.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., SharePoint or similar platforms).
  • Knowledge of data security practices and best practices for handling CUI sensitive information.
  • Experience with file management and data migration processes.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, or business.
  • Basic understanding of IT systems, networks, and document management solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with various departments.
  • Problem-solving abilities with a customer-service focus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic IT tools.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening process.



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $22.00/hr - $24.00/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
