Job Description

We're seeking a versatile and highly motivated Paralegal Specialist to support our Subrogation and Insurance Defense teams, including Bodily Injury (BI) and Homeowners litigation. This hybrid role is approximately 50% subrogation-focused and 50% BI/homeowners-focused. Ideal for someone who thrives in high-volume, deadline-driven environments, this position will support 2-4 attorneys across both disciplines.

This is a plaintiff-side role for subrogation (Allstate is the plaintiff), and defense-side for BI/homeowners. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, extremely organized, flexible, and ready to take ownership of complex files. Key Responsibilities

Subrogation (approx. 50%)

  • Manage a high-volume subrogation caseload with autonomy from inception through resolution.

  • Draft and issue demand letters, negotiate directly with adjusters, and coordinate recoveries.

  • Prepare pleadings and filings; assist attorneys in pursuing litigation strategies-though most matters resolve pre-trial.

  • Process payments and maintain precise documentation on case status and outcomes.

  • Collaborate closely with attorneys in the Miami office on active litigation files.

  • Monitor statute limitations and ensure timely legal action.

Bodily Injury & Homeowners (approx. 50%)

  • Support attorneys on bodily injury and property damage litigation, including discovery, pleadings, and court filings.

  • Schedule depositions, hearings, and maintain litigation calendars.

  • Organize and summarize medical records, draft responses to discovery, and help prepare experts and witnesses.

  • Ensure tight litigation deadlines are met and coordinate communication with clients and opposing counsel.

Education & Licenses
  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.

  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered such as a 2- year paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program.

Minimum Requirements
  • 1+ years' experience as a paralegal in subrogation OR bodily injury required.

  • Strong familiarity with litigation procedures, court filings, and discovery.

  • Excellent organization and time management in a high-volume environment.

  • Skilled in legal drafting, negotiation, and multitasking across different legal practice areas.

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and thrives under pressure.

  • Must reside within reasonable distance to Fort Lauderdale for in-person meetings.
