Overview
Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Biostatistician III to provide biostatistical support for clinical and/or laboratory research. This involves performing statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies. This position will be in support of the Department of Medicine, Uniformed Services University. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Responsibilities
- Works with the Project PI and other biostatisticians to achieve the goals of the projects. Provides guidance in appropriate statistical methods as well as input into future design and methodology of studies.
- Takes a leadership role in organizing the data analytic team in collaboration with the senior scientists
- Directs project staff and support personnel, and ensures quality and accuracy of work, realistic deadlines are set, and appropriate resources are available to accomplish tasks. Regularly monitors progress to ensure that critical elements are proceeding on schedule.
- Performs statistical analyses, design surveys, work with different means of survey delivery including on-line. Provides statistical and project status reports.
- Performs literature searches and writes scientific reports/papers.
- Manages preparation of required reports, ensuring that deadlines set by external agencies. Engages outside agencies, and communicates with and oversees management aspects of collaborations with academic institutions and federal, state, and local authorities.
- Provides guidance and assistance to senior program managers, and human resources and personnel management related to statistical analyst recruitment, hiring, and staff coordination. Facilitates information flow between program members, scientific directors, and the Foundation.
- Prepares and monitor budget.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Master's Degree
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of statistics and study design.
- Proficiency in Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) including programming and use of statistical procedures; other programs necessary for conducting analyses as appropriate (e.g., STATA, MPlus, R, HLM, LISERL).
- Knowledge of databases and other software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access 2003 and 2007.
- Experience in data management, statistical analysis of longitudinal or repeated measurement data.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Excellent leadership and management skills to assist senior scientists in management of the data analytic team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $88,600-$90,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
