Description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to play a key role in overseeing the financial health of our multidivisional organization specializing in Energy Efficiency, Engineering, Environmental Testing, HVAC, and Design. The Assistant Controller will collaborate with the Controller to oversee and manages the daily activities for all of the organization's accounting functions, which may include cost and general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Manages the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closes.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the organization's general ledger, asset tracking, liabilities, expenses, and revenues.
  • Assists external auditors with periodic auditing or the organization's financial records and statements.
  • Leads the accounting team in performing monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including cash.
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of marketable securities for the Controller's review.
  • Ensures the monthly sales and use tax filings comply with various state requirements.
  • Collaborates with Controller and Senior Accountant in developing and applying policies and procedures to ensure effective cash management.
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring and onboarding new Finance team staff.
  • Identifies training needs for current team members, and works with Controller and CFO to coordinate training or mentoring to meet the requirements.



Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Five years of progressive related experience.
  • Experience with Acumatica ERP a plus!
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with a high level of attention to accuracy.
  • Able to prioritize responsibilities.



Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, on-site, position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday with specific hours to be mutually agreed upon.

Travel:

There is no expected travel required for this position.
