JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

University Libraries-University Park Life Sciences Library seeks motivated and responsible individuals to provide reference desk and public services assistance.

The Life Sciences Library seeks Part-Time Information Resources and Services position staff support, responsibilities may include:

  • Reference assistance;
  • Circulation of reference items,
  • Maintenance of the overall appearance of our library;
  • Enforcement of University and Libraries policies;
  • Collection of data for various types of assessment;
  • Shelve periodicals and file other library reference materials;
  • Shelf reading/scanning of collections; and other duties of a similar nature.

Applicants should have strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Applicants with a background in any of the life sciences are preferred. This position requires the ability to be able to move throughout our library during the course of a shift. This position will require some evening and weekend shifts as scheduled as well as the availability and willingness to pick up open shifts.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
