Milwaukee Public Schools is currently seeking DPI licensed School Counselor candidates for full-time elementary cluster positions. Selected candidates will be assigned to multiple elementary locations across the district serving students in grades K3-8 for the 2025-26 school year. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) counselor provides support services to students, staff, and parents. The duties are focused on the overall delivery counseling program realized through guidance curriculum, individual student planning and responsive services. Additional responsibilities include school programming in Infinite Campus, student rostering/scheduling, maintaining individual student Academic and Career Plans, etc. The school counseling program is offered in an equitable, multi-cultural setting and helps all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development. Interested applicants should complete all sections of the application including the online submission of a current resume. Department interview panels may request candidates to submit additional items including, but not limited to, letters of recommendation, reference lists, and/or writing samples. At the time of hire, the selected candidate will need to submit three (3) letters of recommendation dated within the last year and signed by the author and a copy of official transcripts verifying his/her conferred undergraduate degree. Conferred graduate degree transcripts are required for any fully licensed counselor candidate. Qualifications
Eligible applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a School Counselor (7054) licensed issued by the Department of Public Instruction or be actively enrolled in a graduate program to obtain the required school counseling license. Applicants who posses the following characteristics and skills are preferred:
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The counselor (teacher) salary range starts at $52,827.70 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 counseling or teaching experience. Equal Employment Opportunity
