GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides financial leadership for Henry Ford Southfield Hospital & Henry Ford Novi Hospital, supporting executive and operational leaders. Directs and oversees financial related activities including, but not limited to, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, expense management, service line profitability, financial analysis, business plans and other financial information to support operations in the identification and implementation of financial improvement plans and strategic planning. Ensures achievement of Business Units financial objectives and alignment with HFHS system operational and strategic goals and expectations. The position reports to the Regional Vice President Finance, West Region.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Accountable for the monthly financial reporting process to ensure leadership receives timely and accurate data. Provides explanation of variances and advises management as to the areas of significant variance from plan. Prepare reports for leadership, boards and finance committees. Serves as a liaison on financial matters among executive leadership and management.
  • Directs the annual budget process for assigned Business Unit(s) as well as short and long-term financial forecasting and ensures consistency with HFHS system guidance.
  • Collaborates and partners with HFHS Strategic Planning in the development and support of short and long-term strategic plans for assigned Business Unit.
  • Provides financial leadership and operational support relative to the implementation of business opportunities, challenges and risks, including financial analysis, critical review of programs and services and relevant capital expenditures.
  • Collaborates and partners with service line/department leaders on business plans to help achieve financial performance goals.
  • Develop business plans to determine financial viability and to ensure that financial resources are optimized while short and long-term goals are achieved.
  • Oversees expense management reporting, productivity and benchmarking to help monitor expenses against budget while working with operational leaders to help identify expense savings opportunities.
  • Manages statistical reporting at both the hospital and cost center level
  • Monitors financial systems to ensure data integrity and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and increase value of financial activities.
  • Manages and completes special projects and serves on various committees as assigned.
  • Over sees, plans and coordinates finance team support for departmental services.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in-order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
  • Additional Duties / Responsibilities - financially support the various third-party related relationships as appropriate (PSAs, Joint Ventures, etc.).


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Bachelor's Degree is required with a preferred emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Approximately 7 years progressively more responsible work-related experience.
  • Minimum experience of 3 years in the Healthcare industry.
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred.
