How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Director of the Innovation as a Network Data Analyst, you will be responsible for the generation, presentation, and documentation of network data analyses with the goal of assisting Ciena's customers in their day-to-day network operation and transformation projects.

  • You will partner with customers and other stakeholders to understand the customer's needs, datasets, and objectives and how Ciena can best support their needs.
  • You will develop analyses, reports, and visualizations to drive the customer outcomes.
  • You will work closely with colleagues of various skillsets to generate those analyses, reports, and visualizations.
  • You will work to analyze large datasets for patterns, trends and other points of interests to drive alarm conditions.
  • From time to time, you will join customer pre-sales calls and share knowledge/expertise to determine critical needs and support solution design.
  • You will provide weekly updates to varying internal and external contract stakeholders, including Ciena PMs.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar technical field of study or experience in related field in lieu of a degree..
  • Proven working experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and common data science libraries.
  • Experience in data visualization and software, particularly Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Network PM's function and their various collection mechanisms.
  • Must be ready to work in a very collaborative yet remote environment, with colleagues and customers in different time zones.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating system and command line operations.

Assets:

  • Knowledge and experience with databases, more specifically graph database (neo4j) is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting languages such as python.
  • Knowledge and experience with data analytics and data processing best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following libraries: statsmodel, matplotlib, pandas, pytoch, tensorflow, ray
  • Knowledge and Experience in machine learning.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication networks is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience of internet service provider operation and planning processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with internet service providers systems (NMS, IMS, BPMS) is a plus.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position in US is $90,900 - $145,100.

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is CAD 82,800 - CAD 132,200 .

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
