Job Summary
#CA-FT The role of the Cogito Business Intelligence Developer (CBID) involves implementing reporting content and analytics tools to meet clinical and business needs. This position requires an understanding of how data is captured in clinical workflows of multiple EMR applications. Responsibilities include managing customer relationships of all levels of organizational leadership, clinicians, and business operations staff and collaborating with Cogito Business Analysts, Business Intelligence Developers, SlicerDicer Administrators, and analysts on the EMR application teams. The focus of this role includes developing business intelligence solutions in Cogito Palette (Radar dashboards, Reporting Workbench reports) and other tools such as Tableau and Business Objects. Additionally, the position will be required to design and develop complex SQL queries. The CBID is involved in every aspect of requirements gathering, designing, developing, implementing, and testing dashboards, reports, and metrics. This encompasses requirements gathering, data retrieval, validation, curation, and transforming data into insightful and actionable visualizations. The CBID is expected to create, follow, and uphold best practices and standards in business intelligence. Additional responsibilities include administering and maintaining Cogito hyperspace reporting tools and managing Cogito Security. As a technical leader and information resource, the CBID will provide support, troubleshooting, and problem solving at an advanced level. Apply By Date: June 3, 2025 at 11:59pm. - Epic training and certification in Cogito Fundamentals, Cogito Tools Administration, and Caboodle and Clarity Data Models to be completed within 6 months of onboarding.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
- Minimum 5 years of experience building business intelligence solutions using healthcare data.
- Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, design and run queries, collect, and analyze performance data, and produce sophisticated reports and analyses for management use.
- Ability to apply advanced technical project management concepts with a full understanding of project management practices and IT policies and procedures to manage complex projects.
- Proven ability to lead a project team to successfully meeting project objectives and timelines.
- Advanced interpersonal communications skills to convey highly technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users in a clear and concise manner, to provide technical support and training.
- Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with senior staff and management across departments, providing advice, counsel, and analysis on issues of policy, functionality, system efficiency, upgrades, business analytics, and industry advances and trends.
- Previous involvement in projects related to hospital operations, critical care, emergency medicine, trauma, etc.
- Expert in Epic's reporting tools including Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer
- Extensive experience designing, creating, testing, and implementing simple to highly complex reports using business intelligence tools such as Business Objects (Crystal Reports, WebI), Tableau, or other similar tools.
- Experienced in relational and dimensional data modeling principles and techniques.
- Expert in writing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries and query tuning and optimization.
- Experience developing in Oracle and SQL Server
- Ability to produce high quality deliverables in efficient manner.
- Ability to translate user requirements into report specifications.
- Expert level report writing skills and knowledge of multiple tools to aid in more complex report development.
- Experience with end user workflows for two or more Epic applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience provisioning data solutions for Epic Community Connect client organizations
- Knowledge of and experience with Epic's Clarity and/or Caboodle data models
- Tableau expertise
- Business Objects experience
- Skilled in creating visualizations
- Knowledge of Epic Clarity Console, Compass, troubleshooting, and upgrades
- Experience implementing or supporting the Epic electronic medical record system.
- Familiarity with data governance and data stewardship principles and practices
- Epic Cogito Fundamentals, Cogito Tools Administration, Clarity, and Caboodle Data Model Certification
