Primary Purpose of Department
The Office of Alumni Engagement's primary purpose is to develop, coordinate and promote programs for our alumni to keep them connected and involved with UNC Charlotte and one another. To serve UNC Charlotte alumni and students in order to strengthen connections and encourage involvement with the institution. The Office of Alumni Engagement is within the division of University Advancement.
Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Associate Director of College Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director of College Alumni Engagement plays a critical role in connecting alumni to UNC Charlotte's academic colleges through strategic programming, volunteer engagement, and collaborative partnerships. This position serves as a liaison between its assigned colleges and the Office of Alumni Engagement. The role develops and executes comprehensive alumni engagement initiatives that enhance alumni participation, increase volunteerism, and encourage philanthropic support in alignment with institutional goals.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate alumni events, networking programs, and volunteer opportunities in collaboration with college leadership and campus partners, ensuring alignment with engagement and safety standards.
  • Recruit, train, and support alumni volunteers and manage alumni boards or councils to enhance college-based and university-wide initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni, faculty, and college leadership to strengthen engagement and encourage future volunteerism and giving.
  • Use data tools to track alumni engagement, evaluate program outcomes, and recommend improvements based on performance and ROI.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop engagement strategies that support college and university advancement goals, including initiatives like Niner Nation Gives and Niner Nation Week.
  • Collaborate with university communications teams to promote events and alumni success stories through various media platforms.
  • Serve as a liaison between colleges and the alumni office, represent the Alumni Engagement team at events, and advocate for the integration of alumni engagement throughout the student-to-alumni lifecycle.
  • Stay informed on best practices in alumni relations and contribute to university-wide advancement initiatives.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in program or event management, alumni relations, volunteer coordination, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
