Overview To install, alter, maintain and repair emergency power systems, electrical systems, UPS systems and electrical equipment, fixtures, tools, and appliances. Lead teams on projects, preventative maintenance activities or emergency responses. Responsibilities
- Installs, alters, maintains and repairs emergency power systems, electrical systems, UPS systems and a wide variety of electrical equipment, fixtures, tools and appliances. Electrical systems include single and three phase with 120, 208, 277 and 480 volts, signal circuits, control circuits, and low voltage systems
- May be designated by management as Lead/Forman of team
- Diagnoses problems, malfunctions, or design alterations to emergency power systems, electrical systems or electrical equipment, fixtures, tools and appliances
- Follows work schedules and reads and interprets directions, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and manufacturer manuals to complete assigned projects in a safe, effective, efficient manner
- Reviews documentation and blueprints of external contractors, architects and engineers to assist with contract development
- Inspects work of external contractors for quality and adherence of specifications
- Plans installation, alteration and repair projects ensuring adherence to safety rules and regulations
- Provides technical guidance to apprentice and journeyman electricians, as well as employees in other trade areas
- Performs other related duties as assigned or appropriate
- To ensure the optimal functioning of the electrical and mechanical systems for the respective campus are in good running order to include all Data Center equipment and UPS systems
- Demonstrates discretion and good judgement in organizing workflows and adapt to new priorities as they arise
- Coordinate and monitor the work of vendors to ensure safety of personnel, protect critical infrastructure, ensure security measures are followed and maintain power to critical equipment
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and emergency procedures for all facilities personnel to follow and keep procedures updated as required
Qualifications
- Practical experience of 7 years in maintenance and repair of commercial electrical and mechanical systems, such as Generators, fuel distribution systems, electrical distribution devices, UPS and HVAC systems
- Experience and skills in technical writing, as well as creating, coordinating, updating and modifying work methods, SOP's and emergency procedures for critical installations, including support of new systems and research of technical requirements
- Must possess valid driver's license
- Thorough knowledge of local, state and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) National Electrical Code (NEC)Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials and safety regulations associated with the electrical trade
- Ability to read and interpret work schedules and directions, blueprints, diagrams, electrical panel schematics engineering drawings and manufacturer manuals and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to work independently and as a team leader to gain the cooperation of others
- Performs other duties as assigned or appropriate
- Ability to attend and complete technical training for critical equipment such as UPS systems, NER center equipment etc.
- Fluent with use of software such as word and excel among other common programs
- Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Master's license for electricians or 7 years of commercial work experience under a licensed technician. Experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge, skill, safety and successful performance of job functions at the master level
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
