System Engineer/System Admin

This position will be part of the System Administration team and will primarily focus on the administration and maintenance of all IT Systems and Infrastructure. This resource will work closely with other IT associates to develop and implement new solutions, as well as support, streamline and maintain existing solutions. They will support mission focused IT system initiatives that incorporate both existing infrastructure and new system technologies. They will work with IT Leadership to find the best strategies to meet business needs and IT requirements. At Cadre Holdings, we rely on our system engineering team to build the foundation for system expansion, storage and backups. Essential Job Functions:
|
- Maintain and critique server and desktop patching process.
- Upgrade EOL windows servers and vSphere host.
- Assist with Veeam backup and restore administration.
- Maintain and support Exchange Hybrid environment.
- Support Mimecast E-mail smart host
- Perform complex storage, data, and VMware VM migrations.
- Support disaster recovery operations.
- Document complex troubleshooting procedures.
- Work across the IT Team as well as with business users, necessary contractors, and vendors.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to the IT infrastructure and IT Security teams.
- Support, administrate, upgrade, and maintain vSphere 6 and 7 host as well as vCenter 7 environments and all underlying VMs.
- Perform Active Directory housekeeping and administration.
- Execute Active Directory object migrations across domain trust.
- Maintain and review server documentation.
- Support Dell Open Manage on premise server monitoring and fix any issues.
- Monitor server growth, provide forecasted growth plans, obtain estimates from vendors and budget for future spending.
- Troubleshoot complex desktop support issues that are escalated.
- Assist with user support by working and resolving IT tickets.
- Document ticket resolutions and solutions for cross team/department future use.
- Monitor Auvik notifications and dashboards daily and resolve any systems that are down or experiencing issues.
- Solution focused, with a strong emphasis on process and continuous improvements.
- Learns new systems, methods and/or processes, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager or IT Leadership Team.

Required Experience:
|
5+ years' experience supporting Windows 7, 10 and/or 11, as well as Office 2013, 2016 and O365. 5+ years' experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019 or 2022 5+ years' experience with VMware vSphere 6,7, 8 and vCenter 7, 8. 5+ years' experience with Exchange 2016, Exchange Online, & Exchange Hybrid deployments. Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 services, Entra and Azure. Experience in upgrading windows operating systems and familiar with upgrading windows operating system feature packs. Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, Sites and Services. Proficient with TCP/IP and subnetting. Proven ability to work independently, as well as work collaboratively with teams, some of which may be geographically distributed. Self-starter with ability to prioritize workload, which may include a mix of project tasks and break fix initiatives. Ability to travel <10% of the year to support projects, mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures (nationally and internationally). Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to establish a good rapport and maintain effective working relationships with others Ability to handle multiple prioritized projects/tasks with different subject matters at once, as assigned by Infrastructure Manager

Skills:

Familiar with Manage Engine ServiceDesk Plus, and Endpoint Central. Experience with VMware vSphere 6, 7, 8, vCenter 7, 8 and vRealize 8. Familiar with Auvik, and Dell OpenManage Enterprise monitoring systems. Experience with PowerShell, and cmd scripting. Experience with managing Mimecast email smart host Familiar with Dell PowerEdge Servers and remote iDrac management. Experience with SAN and Fiber Channel technology. Familiar with Pure SAN's. AS or BS degree in engineering or computer science. Citrix XenApp, Legacy Presentation server and NetScaler experience a plus. Microsoft, Citrix, or VMware certifications a plus. RF Smart and Zebra wireless device experience a plus.
