A Brief Overview
Under the general direction of the Training Manager, this position is responsible for designing, reviewing, evaluating, and instructing the training needed for Distribution Operators and Dispatchers to operate the ADMS/OMS Systems safely, efficiently, and competently. Also supports and informs Operators on operating standards in compliance with PJM regulations, PUCO, plus company safety and operating standards. The position works Monday-Friday. Other duties or support may be needed as necessary (e.g., may involve after-hours, weekend, and 24/7 work for storm support).

What you will do

  • Design, develop and implement role-based curriculum for Distribution Operations including Training Presentations for ADMS, and OMS in the form of Instructor Led Training (ILT), Train-the-Trainer (TTT), Simulation Scenarios, and Computer Based Training (CBT); Just-in-Time (JIT) Instructor Guides; Learner Guides; self-study materials, etc.
  • Conducts curriculum reviews and approval demonstrations with Training Manager, SMEs, and/or Operations Managers.
  • Develops and/or works with a 3rd-party to develop training materials and assets according to approved curriculum design.
  • Support Distribution Operation's training for other departments
  • Guides and approves Training Support activities inclusive of facilities and equipment set-up, training communications, attendance tracking, personnel non-compliance reports, employee training completion, certifications, qualifications and regulatory-mandated training, programs presented by outside trainers.
  • Provides formal and informal mentoring /coaching to new real-time Operators.
  • Evaluates and reviews changes to SOPs and emerging tools to determine training requirements.
  • Facilitates training content review cycles with Operations Managers.
  • Maintains and updates training content
  • Supports technology go-lives with on-site support.
  • Attend conferences and educational seminars to remain up to date on adult learning concepts as needed.
  • Assists in the development of operational procedures and processes.
  • Maintains positive relationships with departments across AES and other utilities to coordinate training activities. Performs related duties as required.
  • Support / revise compliance audits and requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Relevant work experience with an electric utility, with experience in control room operations.
  • Preferred experience serving in a training role includes designing, developing, and delivering a training curriculum.
  • Preferred previous experience designing and developing operational and technical training programs using ADDIE and adult learning principles.
