The Munters R&D Systems Integration group develops new controls strategies for the Data Center Cooling Market & supports our controls systems at customer's sites. The R&D Controls Technician is an essential part of the support process from concept to successful product. Technicians create databases for equipment, troubleshoot and fix controls-related issues, train Field Service Technicians in controls, and help meet our customer's needs. This includes travel to job sites to troubleshoot live, travel to factories for testing, and perform/attend training sessions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Tests written programs produced by the DCSI Engineering Team.
- Light to moderate programming modifications.
- Critical thinking and evaluation of sensor placement, assembly, and wiring to ensure units are correctly assembled and ready for the customer.
- Documentation of training material and processes.
- Troubleshooting of logic controllers, digital and analog sensing devices, variable speed drives, wiring, and refrigeration .
- Assisting with the integration of Building Management Systems and interfaces (protocols) to Munters equipment.
- Provide Service Tech Support: over the phone troubleshooting.
- Travel to critical jobsites as needed. Travel can be 50 to 75% of the time, depending on need.
- Executes projects & tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to work on large scale projects and provide comprehensive documentation.
- Knowledge of common HVAC components such as compressors, valves, fans, and heat exchangers
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to successfully plan work to meet deadlines.
- Excellent computer ability & background in DDCs/PLCs. ALC / OEMCtrl background preferred.
- Understanding of networks: IP, BACnet, Modbus.
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A knowledge of advanced computer use.
- Background in logic controllers, digital & analog sensing devices, variable speed drives, and refrigeration principles.
- 5+ years industry experience with Associates Degree in a related field (HVAC/Controls) or 5-10 years of experience in commercial or Data Center facilities with emphasis in Controls.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Daily walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting
