We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Manufacturing to join our dynamic team in Utica, NY. In this key leadership role, you will oversee and optimize manufacturing operations, ensuring the highest operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. As the site Sr Director you will have full P&L accountability and responsibility for Quality, Purchasing, Production, and global Inventory for which the site has ownership. This is a fully onsite position at our Utica, NY location. Site Leadership and Operational Management
Build and lead high-performing, cross-disciplinary teams, coaching and developing managers and future leaders with a focus on succession planning, talent pipeline development, and organizational capability building. Ensure robust operational controls, KPIs, procedures, and talent are in place to drive scalable, efficient, and financially sound operations. Develop and execute a strategic vision for the site aligned with corporate mission, manufacturing goals, and long-term business strategy. Lead all manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Manage site operations to meet financial targets, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control, while aligning production with customer demand and market trends. Provide strategic oversight of daily operations, production planning, quality control, and inventory management, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Oversee external manufacturing, servicing, maintenance, and distribution of medical device products, ensuring adherence to safety, performance, and quality standards. Develop and implement a risk-based oversight program for outsourced operations to ensure regulatory compliance and business continuity. Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in operations and digital manufacturing. Collaborate with executive leadership (Engineering, Sales, Finance, Quality) on long-range goals, capacity planning, and technology implementation.
Lead lean manufacturing initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and digital transformation efforts to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Quality and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure site-wide compliance with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and other relevant global regulatory standards. Ensures all company Audits are completed successfully and resourced appropriately while CONMED products are registered to this site. Ensures non-conformities, and CAPA's are closed and implement on time and in budget and drive a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
Financial Management
Own full site P&L responsibility, working closely with Finance to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving initiatives. Build a budget, and deliver it. * Analyze financial and operational data to drive profitability, optimize resource allocation, and support strategic decision-making. * Lead capital expenditure planning and ROI analysis for major investments in equipment, technology, and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years in Medical Device or Related field 10 Years in Manufacturing / Operations 5-7 Years of site level leadership manufacturing Deep knowledge of supply chain, quality systems, manufacturing engineering, and regulatory compliance
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver measurable results. Strong background in project management, Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills Strategic thinker with the ability to synthesize complex data and drive innovation. Demonstrated success in managing complex stakeholder relationships and influencing at all levels. Experience implementing employee engagement strategies and performance management Deep knowledge of ISO 14385 Blackbelt in 6 Sigma
Disclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is 171,000 to 222,000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The salary range is CONMED's good faith belief at the time of this posting.
