Job Title: SOX Senior Accounting Analyst Location: Portland, OR Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)
Contract Length: 6 months
Pay Range: $55-$62/HR We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SOX Senior Accounting Analyst to join an our client, a reputable utility provider committed to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions in the PNW. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work remotely with 2-3 days per week in the office. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a key point of contact for the development, documentation, and implementation of internal controls and processes.
Create detailed process narratives, flowcharts, and risk/control mappings, while identifying design gaps.
Assist in training new control and process owners on proper documentation and evidence of operating effectiveness for key SOX controls.
Participate in walkthroughs of newly designed controls alongside internal and external audit teams.
Ensure comprehensive understanding and execution of SOX compliance and remediation requirements.
Contribute to cross-functional collaboration, providing guidance and technical resources to various departments.
Qualifications & Skills: Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a CPA certificate preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with public accounting experience preferred.
In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Strong working knowledge of SOX compliance, controls, and remediation processes.
Understanding of business processes and IT controls and their impact on financial reporting.
High attention to detail with the ability to view processes from a big-picture perspective.
Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.
Strong ethical standards and adherence to company policies and practices.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, offering guidance and training to others.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), with experience in database applications.
Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate group discussions and deliver presentations.
Strong writing skills, including the ability to document tasks and prepare reports.
Effective time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
Ability to work cross-functionally and interact with various business units.
Preferred:
Experience within the utility industry or a related business environment.
Demonstrated expertise in analytical and accounting research.
Experience with SAP and/or CUSI systems.
