Senior Manager of Medical Education

Overview

Global Medical Affairs (GMA) is currently seeking an accomplished individual to join our team as Senior Manager of Medical Education. Responsible for facilitating the development and implementation of medical educational programming for customers and internal colleagues globally, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as GMA colleagues, Marketing, GCD, COE, ZTD, global in-market colleagues, KOLs and other stakeholders) to ensure alignment with business objectives and meet the educational needs of veterinary professionals and paraprofessionals. Additionally, you will assist in the development and refinement of the medical education strategy to enhance the effectiveness and reach of our educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Educational Program Development & Execution

Development

Support design and implementation of global educational programs, workshops, seminars, and interactive training tools tailored to diverse audiences, utilizing both digital and in-person formats. Programs will focus on medical education for our portfolio of existing products and those being launched.

  • Project Planning and Management
    • For education asset development, translation, localization and launches, as required.
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation using Asana. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Program Development and Revision
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address gaps in medical education for customers and colleagues, selecting appropriate solutions to achieve goals.
    • Develop a clear, innovative, and coherent learning strategy with stakeholders that expands the learning context and meets desired learning outcomes.
    • Responsible for instructional design oversight and delivery vehicles of programs, ensuring the delivery mode of content is current, relevant, and appropriate for the target audience.
    • Partner with content creators and instructional designers to develop learning experiences that align measurable objectives with assessments and engaging activities.
    • Ensure assets are on-brand and easily localized for individual countries.
    • Incorporate practical methods for veterinary healthcare teams to implement the product in their practice, focusing on effective communication skills and optimizing practice workflow.
    • Design and implement plans to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction based on the achievement of learning outcomes.
    • Lead the update/ revision of medical education assets for both internal training and external customers, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and tailored to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in the review and approval process for educational content, as required. Review assets for accuracy, relevance and alignment with curriculum standards and Zoetis branding.
  • Localization Support: Support the localization of educational assets for individual countries, if required. This may include working with design agencies, translation agencies and in-market colleagues to modify content to meet local regulatory and legal requirements and to ensure content is culturally and linguistically appropriate.

Delivery

  • Learning Management System(s) and Learning Platforms
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders in the delivery of educational programming on learning management systems or learning platforms globally, ensuring accessibility and quality content delivery.
    • Maintain quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of content delivery.
  • Facilitate/deliver educational sessions to stakeholders when requested and when expertise in relevant areas is demonstrated.

Education Program Evaluation and Reporting

  • Measure and track key performance indicators to evaluate the success of educational programs.
  • Prepare and present monthly/quarterly/annual reports on educational activities and outcomes, providing insights and recommendations for future strategies as well as to make improvements in existing programs.

Medical Education Strategy

Conferences/ Congresses

  • Assist in the development and refinement of the medical education strategy for global conferences and congresses.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of the strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from conference participants to inform strategy improvements.
  • Support medical asset development as required (instructional design oversight, delivery vehicle selection)
  • Prepare reports and presentations on strategy performance and outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

Product Launches

  • Assist in the development and refinement of the medical education strategy for KOLs and advisory boards, academic institutions, and customers (veterinary healthcare teams, pet owners, producers) for products launches.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of the strategy.
  • Support medical education program development as required
  • Consultant for internal medical training presentations/workshops
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives.
  • Gather and analyze feedback to inform strategy improvements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

Digital Delivery

  • Assist in the development and refinement of the global digital medical education strategy.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to execute the strategy, as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Foster a strong collaborative environment among the Global Medical Affairs team and key stakeholders in other divisions and within markets.
  • Working with other relevant colleagues from the GMA team, build and maintain relationships with GCD, COE, ZTD, L&D as well as market veterinary and business leaders, collaborating on educational initiatives.
  • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive community atmosphere within the Zoetis medical community, encouraging collaboration and mutual support among colleagues.

Research and Innovation

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in education for in-person events such as conferences/congresses, as well as digital platforms. Implement innovative approaches to enhance the quality and impact of educational projects.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine or associated degree required.
  • Additional formal training or advanced degree/certification in adult education, business management, or animal health related fields is desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the animal health industry, specifically in a medical role. Global experience desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience which must include companion animals.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) in English.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategies for medical education programs, ensuring smooth product adoption within veterinary practices.
  • Understanding of veterinary medical affairs and regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and manage projects in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership, including leading in situations without direct authority over team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Forms, Teams), Asana, Content Central Vault and CRC (USA & international) processes.
  • Technical writing expertise, including content revision and quality assurance.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with digital education applications and tools.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.

Expected travel and work hours
