DESCRIPTION OF WORK An employee in this role engages in semi-skilled tasks either independently or by providing support to a skilled worker. Additionally, this individual may take on the responsibilities of a lead worker, overseeing a small team of manual laborers as they carry out routine activities. These activities encompass a variety of essential functions, including general janitorial services, maintenance of roads, trails, and buildings, as well as the upkeep of tools and equipment. The employee is also involved in managing boundary lines, picnic areas, and various recreation projects. Furthermore, the role includes efforts in the conservation and protection of forest resources, alongside customer service initiatives. All these tasks are aimed at assisting the Forest Maintenance Supervisor in achieving the established goals and expectations that align with the objectives of the Bureau of Forestry and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Work Schedule and Additional Information: This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Condition of Employment: This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
