Campus Enterprises is NC State University's division of retail and hospitality organizations - NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence, value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.
Wolfpack Outfitters provides campus retail services to students, staff, faculty and guests on the North Carolina State University campus. Wolfpack Outfitters serves a dynamic and growing student population with retail products and services including the Course Ready day-one course materials program, and merchandise retail for technology, licensed merchandise, graduation items and supplies. Wolf Xpress Print and Copy provides print and design solutions for the NC State campus community and guests. The department employs approximately 50 temporary and student employees and approximately 25 permanent

Essential Job Duties |
As the Director of Wolfpack Outfitters, you will lead one of the most visible and impactful operations at NC State-our official campus store. This is more than retail; it's about shaping a dynamic, student-centered environment that fuels school spirit, supports academic success, and reflects the vibrancy of our Wolfpack community.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Auxiliary Services, you'll oversee a multifaceted operation with a clear focus: deliver exceptional customer experiences while driving strong financial and operational performance. From managing product strategy and financial planning to leading a diverse team and overseeing capital projects, you'll guide every aspect of the store's evolution.

Below is a concise breakdown of the 5 core areas of operations you will be responsible for.
Lead Retail Operations
- Oversee daily operations across multiple units, ensuring efficient, customer-focused service.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies for merchandising, marketing, inventory, and facilities.
- Monitor retail trends, evaluate vendor performance, and implement innovations to strengthen product offerings.
- Collaborate across Campus Enterprises and university departments to support shared goals and cost-effective services.
Drive Financial Performance
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for operations and capital projects.
- Analyze complex data sets to identify opportunities, track performance, and shape business decisions.
- Translate financial insights into action, guiding managers toward operational improvements.
Strengthen Business Operations
- Oversee contracts, compliance, purchasing, and vendor agreements.
- Ensure business practices align with university, state, and industry standards.
- Support procurement and pricing strategies that enhance revenue and customer value.
Build and Support a High-Performing Team
- Directly supervise a core leadership team and foster development across the unit.
- Develop policies, onboarding materials, and training programs to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Champion Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as the face of Wolfpack Outfitters in cross-campus partnerships and public-facing initiatives.
- Work closely with marketing teams to promote products, services, and events.
- Represent the university in state, regional, and national associations.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrated experience overseeing complex, multi-layered budgets, including forecasting and aligning expenditures with strategic priorities.
- Ability to analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, uncover issues, and deliver strategic, actionable insights across platforms.
- Proven success in anticipating and resolving operational or financial challenges through proactive planning and responsive solutions.
- Proven ability to actively listen and tailor communication styles to meet the needs of various audiences, ensuring clarity and supporting customer satisfaction.
- Ability to analyze financial data and trends, operational challenges and opportunities to provide strategic advice. Synthesize and communicate complex information clearly across multiple technology platforms.
- Direct supervisory experience across the full employee life cycle, including hiring, training, evaluating, and developing staff.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships across departments and with external partners while contributing effectively as a collaborative team member within the campus community.
- Excellent organizational skills with a track record of leading independent projects to successful, on-time completion.
- Advanced skills in Google Suite or Microsoft Office include the ability to analyze data with spreadsheets, create professional documents and presentations, manage high-volume communications and calendars, and collaborate through shared drives and file permissions.

Preferred Qualifications |
- 10 years or more of previous work experience in a high-performance retail organization, with preference given to experience in a campus auxiliary enterprise and/or hospitality organization.
- 5 years or more of previous upper-level retail leadership experience.
- Knowledge of purchasing, contract administration, accounting, marketing, and human resources policies, operating procedures, and/or best practices.
- Experience with retail inventory control and point-of-sale systems and reporting tools and campus financial, student information and learning management systems (e.g. NetSuite, NSPOS, SuiteCommerce Advanced, Verba Collect/Connect, PeopleSoft, Moodle)
- Knowledge of best practices and campus store/auxiliary service standards.
