Wearelooking for a talented and drivenPrincipal Software Engineer, tobecome an integral part of our Lynx Engineering team which is instrumental in developing and optimizing our healthcare SaaS technology inventory management system and analytics solution. The ideal candidate should be atechnologyenthusiastand possess a track record of spearheading delivery of enterprise level high performant and scalable software solutions. A passion for advancing healthcare technology is a plus.

ThePrincipal Software Engineeris a key technical leader, driving architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring our application is scalable, secure, and resilient. This role blends hands-on engineering with long-term strategic thinking, influencing how we build and scale our systems to support rapid business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define and own the technical vision and architecture to support and evolve our applications and services, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
    • Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, cultivating a culture of excellence by adhering to best practices in software development and architecture.
    • Collaborate closely with security and compliance teams to navigate compliance adherence processes.
    • Propel cloud initiatives forward to enhance trust, agility, and cloud adoption at McKesson.
    • Ensure our cloud infrastructure is robust, secure, scalable, and reliable, while remaining cost-effective.
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of current systems to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
    • Partner with product and other stakeholders to translate healthcare business requirements into technical solutions.
    • Foster innovation by integrating machine learning and AI solutions into our platform, enhancing patient care and operational processes.
    • Mentor junior and senior engineers, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
    • Demonstrate architectural expertise across operational teams, addressing customer needs for support, issue analysis, enhancements, and corrective actions.
    • Evolve existing software systems, infrastructure, and architecture to support growth, SLAs, and ongoing operations.
    • Resolve technical problems, issues, and escalations within the delivery team and project activities.
    • Research, evaluate, and adopt new technologies or practices that enhance platform quality and developer productivity, staying informed about emerging technologies and trends in healthcare IT and platform architecture.

    Minimum Requirement

    Degree or equivalent and typically requires 13+ years, with 8+ years, of direct work related experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.

    Education

    Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

    Critical Skills

    • 13+ years of experience in full-stack software development, with 4+ years as a Software Architect/Principal Engineer.
    • Proven track record of delivering high-performance, scalable, and reliable enterprise-level applications.
    • 8+ years of experience with Java; proficiency in Python or Node.js is a plus.
    • 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
    • Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Working knowledge of design patterns and best practices for supporting on-prem and cloud-based production workloads, including security, governance, high availability, and disaster recovery.
    • Experience in designing microservices-based or other cloud-native architectures.
    • Experience with messaging frameworks like Redis and Kafka.
    • API experience, REST or similar, and integration experience with MuleSoft or similar.
    • Experience with AI technologies and machine learning frameworks.
    • Excellent understanding of IT infrastructure, security, and data integration.
    • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD (Ansible, Terraform).
    • Experience working in Agile methodology practices.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment focused on delivery and customer satisfaction.

    Additional Skills

    • Experience with large-scale multi-tenant service delivery is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of HIPAA, data compliance, and PHI/PII data handling is a plus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional communication skills and leadership capabilities.
    • Demonstrate a growth mindset and a willingness to learn through collaboration.
    • Ability to understand business and technical requirements while developing associated content and documentation.
    • Experience in the healthcare industry is beneficial.
    • Experience in native app development using programming languages (e.g., Swift, Kotlin) and familiarity with mobile development frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter) a plus
    • Contributions to open-source projects or engineering blogs/talks are advantageous.
    • Experience with HL7 and FHIR, including Smart on FHIR Apps and integration with different EMRs, is a plus.
    • Having a cloud Certification is a plus.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.     Our Base Pay Range for this position

    $189,200 - $315,300
